Theme Thursday: Rhymes

Hosted by Reading Between the Pages

Rules
*A theme will be posted each week on Thursday
*Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from your current book that features the theme
*Post it and don't forget to mention the author and title of the book
*Event is open for the whole week
*Link back to Reading Between the Pages
This week's theme is Rhymes (Pick two snippets that have rhyming words; i.e. if one has rain, the other should have vain or chain or Spain)

Here's mine from The Island of Dr. Moreau by H. G. Wells:

The noise overhead began again, a snarling growl and the voice of a human being together.

"You were nearly dead," said my interlocutor. "It was a very near thing."

Nearly dead? What happened??? That sparks my curiosity... Both your rhymes and your sentences are both interesting and intriguing

Another not so good situation by the sound of it.
Great choice for this week!
