Five Question Friday

Five Question Friday is a meme hosted by My Little Life (Five Crooked Halos).

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning and link up!

1. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

The tradition I grew up with was opening on Christmas morning. My husband claims that his family has always opened them on Christmas Eve (and, thus, he tries to convince me to open early). My experience with his family has been wide and varied...on Christmas Eve, on Christmas Day night, on the weekend closest to Christmas...I've told him I have no proof of a pattern (and this is after over 20 years), so if we're going with tradition we ought to go with mine since it's more consistent.

2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie (or candy)?

Christmas fudge (any fudge actually....)

3. What's the worst Christmas gift you've ever received?

Any of the candles that people have insisted on giving me--even after knowing that I'm allergic to most scented items.

4. Christmas song that you love?

"Good King Wenceslas" with "O Holy Night" being a close second

5. How many trees do you put up?

One. Getting lights on that one is enough of a challenge. (Not that I don't love having the tree up. I just wish the lights would string themselves. Next tree will be pre-lit.) I can't imagine putting up any others--not to mention that I have no idea where I'd put more even if I wanted to.

Five Question Friday

Five Question Friday is a meme hosted by My Little Life (Five Crooked Halos).

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning and link up! (I'll make sure to get this week's up bright and early for all you Black Friday shoppers...possibly even a bit after midnight?!)

Question for Friday, November 26th: Today's Questions all come right off the top of my wee lil' brain! (PS...feel free to come to my community to offer up your best question suggestions...we're in need of some new ones!)

1. What is your favorite part of a Thanksgiving meal? If I have a traditional Thanksgiving meal (which we didn't this year), then my mom's stuffing (real, bread stuffing/dressing--none of that cornbread stuff for me, thank you).

2. Are you a host or a guest for Thanksgiving this year? I hosted this year. Made my mom her favorite meal--my homemade Cashew Chicken and Fried Rice. I told you you were were non-traditional this year.

3. When you think of one Thanksgiving tradition, what comes to mind?
Family get-togethers.

4. You have two pieces of pie in front of you and you HAVE to eat one...do you choose pumpkin or pecan? Pecan. I hardly ever have the chance to have pecan...pumpkin appears at every Thanksgiving (even non-traditional ones).

5. Are you a Black Friday Shopper? Every other year when my parents spend Thanksgiving with us. I go shopping with them. But when it's Thanksgiving with the husband's family, I sleep in on Black Friday.

Five Question Friday (a little late)

I just found out about this meme through Violette over at The Mystery Bookshelf. It is hosted by the Five Crooked Halos Blog.

Questions for Friday, November 19th:
(Special thanks to Colleen, Sandy, Bethany, Adena, and a question from the deck of random question cards, for their question suggestions! If you would like to be linked in a future 5QF, c'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions!)

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

Holly Jolly Christmas (When I worked in retail, Burl Ives was Holly Jollying ALL the time. Drove me nuts.)

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?
Actually...we're very Victorian. We have separate rooms. He likes to sleep tropical & I prefer a chill in the air. We've never managed to find a temperature where we'll both be comfy enough to sleep well.

3. Have you ever had surgery?

Unfortunately. Oral surgery when I was in third grade (to "fix" a gap between my front teeth). Wisdom teeth out at 22. And two female-type surgeries.

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

Early December...but I'm not sure I'm going to make it this year.

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

A new house with a dedicated library room--built to specifications. And we'll throw in a spectacular audio/visual room for my hubby and son with the big screen tv, surround sound, sub-woofers (and sound-proofing so the neighbors won't complain and I can read in peace..lol).
