Some of Bev's Favorite Quotes...

Attention All Challengers! here on the Block has been, shall we say, challenging since I got back from vacation. I cam back to work to no computer (not hooked up after our office move) and my laptop at home has gone on strike. It looks like the Check-in Posts for the Just the Facts & Mount TBR challenges will wind up happening at the end of July instead of the regularly scheduled mid-point. But they are coming. Stay tuned!

Teaser Tuesdays

MizB of Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesdays. Anyone can play along. Just do the following:

*Grab your current read.*Open to a random page.
*Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.

*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! You don't want to ruin the book for others.
*Share the title and author too, so other TT participants can add it to their TBR lists if they like your teaser.

Here's mine from The Lieutenant's Whistle by Fred Stemme (p. 1):
At zero hour, when the whistles sounded up and down the line, each man would dutifully climb the ladder in his sector. At the top upon entering No Man's Land, a hail of bullets would greet him, and with it, an uncertain fate.

Good teaser! Haven't heard of this one before. Is it a World War I novel?

Yes, it is. I hadn't heard of it before the author offered me a review copy. The opening hooked me and it helped that the main character is from Indiana.

Why bullets in No Man's Land? Isn't that prohibited?

Great teaser.
