That's all very fine in theory, that plan of forgetting whatever is
painful, but it will be somewhat difficult for me, at least, to carry it
into execution.

Sounds like an interesting idea...forgetting what is painful. Unfortunately, those things resurface at unfortunate times!

It sounds very stilted and formal. Hope that's just one of the characters, although it doesn't bother me in Jane Austen novels. Here's Mine
