SCAM artist alert

Apparently there is someone calling themself "Luigi Calloway" out there who is claiming to be associated with the Mount TBR Reading Challenge. He is contacting authors and telling them if they pay him, then their books will be used for the challenge. It's possible he's also telling people they must pay to participate in any way. Please know that there is absolutely no charge associated in any way with this reading challenge and that this person does NOT represent me or anything associated with my blog. I DO NOT endorse anything that he claims. There will NEVER be a reason for anyone to have to pay for participation in any way for any of my challenges. If only people who exert this much time and effort on scamming people would put it into something worthwhile....like reading their own books! A message to Luigi: Please cease and desist contacting authors (or anyone) in my name or claiming to represent this reading challenge. You absolutely DO NOT.

The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is a bookish meme which is hosted by Freda's Voice. It's really easy (and fun!) to participate.

*Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
*Turn to page 56 and find the fifth sentence.
*Post that sentence (plus one or two more if you like) with these instructions on your blog or in the comments section.
*Post a link back to this blog and Freda's Voice.
*Don't dig for for your favorite book, the coolest, most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST!

Here's mine from Christmas Stalkings collection of short stories collected by Charlotte MacLeod:

"Talk? What about, Tony? About charity? About Christmas? About the time of gifts? How generous are you feeling, Tony? Let's hear some figures." (from the short story "The Running of the Deer" by Reginald Hill)

I'm mildly confused... is it Christmas Stalkings or The Running of the Deer?
Thanks for participating.

@Fredamans: It's both, actually. The story collection is called Christmas Stalkings. Page 56 occurs in the middle of the short story "The Running of the Deer."
