SCAM artist alert

Apparently there is someone calling themself "Luigi Calloway" out there who is claiming to be associated with the Mount TBR Reading Challenge. He is contacting authors and telling them if they pay him, then their books will be used for the challenge. It's possible he's also telling people they must pay to participate in any way. Please know that there is absolutely no charge associated in any way with this reading challenge and that this person does not represent me or anything associated with my blog. There will NEVER be a reason for anyone to have to pay for participation in any way for any of my challenges. If only people who exert this much time and effort on scamming people would put it into something worthwhile....like reading their own books!

Book Beginnings on Friday

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme now hosted by Katy over at A Few More Pages. It was first started by Becky at Page Turners and inspired by Rose City Reader.

How to participate: Share the first line (or two) of the book you are currently reading on your blog or in the comments. Include the title and author so we know what you're reading. Then, if you like, let us know what your first impressions were based on that first line, and let us know why you did or did not like the sentence. Link up over at Katy's page every Friday.

Here is mine from Christmas Stalkings collected by Charlotte MacLeod:

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa, la la la la,la la, la la.

Professor Peter Shandy of Balaclava Agricultural College found the carolers' injunction as superfluous as that inane string of meaningless syllables tacked on after it.

(from the first short story in the collection, "Counterfeit Christmas" by Charlotte MacLeod.)
