Saturday Snapshot: May 26 (Birds!)

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books. All you have to do is "post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mr. Linky on [her] blog. Photos can be old or new, and be of anything as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give is up to you." All she asks is that you don't just post random photos that you find online. (Click picture for close-up).

A tree full of birds....found on a walk with my parents in November 2010.  Nearly every branch had an occupant.

After seeing the movie, The Birds, everythime I see this many birds in a tree, I almost get nervous.

Funny how they all seem to be on one tree and none on the others. Interesting lighting -- great photo.

That's a cool picture -- I second what Lisa said about all of them seeming to be on one tree. Makes for a great picture, though!

Perhaps it was a family reunion, and they were saving the other trees for latecomers? ;-)

That's a great photo! In the dark it looks almost like they're bats.

Ooh...very Hitchcock!

Those starlings really know how to make an effect, don't they? What a pretty silhouette, though!

I thought they were leaves until I looked at what you had written about them.

Wow, that's a lot of birds! Makes me think of the movie.

Now that is a tree full of birds! Great shot.

Don't you wonder the branches don't break.

Reminds me of The Birds... great shot!

@Kaye, Cheryl, Kathy & JoAnn: Yes, very The Birds-like! I was very glad they didn't start dive-bombing us.

@Lisa, Melissa, & Cathy: Must be the special "home" tree for this flock....

@Chris Thompson: They do look kind-of bat-like, don't they?

@Susan: Yes, the silhouette is what grabbed my attention.

@Alyce: I can see where they might look like leaves...Those leave were "talking" though. Lots of bird chatter.

@'Nise and Irene: A very full tree, indeed. I don't think it could have taken one more bird...

@Sheila--a whole lot of togetherness! Nobody wanted to be the bird to say, "Hey, guys, there's lots of room on that tree over there...."

That's quite a flock. One of my friends said when she was a little girl and a flock of birds flew over, they'd say "that's how many people are going to be at my wedding." I'd never heard that superstition before. Here's Mine

Ooh, your shot with the trees, the birds, the gray sky....eerie! Someone else mentioned that movie The Birds. I can't look at a huge flock in quite the same way since seeing it...

I just got the shivers. lol

I remember once when I was living in the foothills, I came outside and there, atop the line of eucalyptus trees that bordered the property, were several birds lined up. They were huge vultures. And I ran inside! lol

Thanks for sharing; and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your weekend, and watch out for the birds!

I had a similar experience recently -- very creepy. Love the photo though

That's a big flock! Maybe they were huddling together for warmth, or headed south in a group. :)

I love it. That looks like a flock of Starlings, especially if they were chattering and making a lot of noise.
