Back to the Classics 2019: My Sign-Up

I wasn't sure I'd be back for the Back to the Classics Challenge.  But I think I've got enough classics on tap for 2019 that I'll be able to do it again. At the most basic level, challengers must complete six categories (which will equal one entry into a year-end drawing). Nine categories will equal two entries and all twelve categories will equal three entries. I'm going to officially enter for six categories. I'll probably finish nine and just might manage all twelve, but once I have six I may claim the challenge as complete no matter what. If you'd like to see the full details and/or join in, please click the link above.

Here are the categories for the 2019 Back to the Classics Challenge (and my tentative list):

1. 19th C Classic: The Notting Hill Mystery by Charles Warren Adams (1863) [7/12/19]

2. 20th C Classic (pub. between 1800 & 1969): A Passage to India by E. M. Forster (1924) [7/21/19]

3. Classic by a Female Author: Died in the Wool (1945) by Ngaio Marsh (1/7/19)

4. Classic in Translation: Monsieur Lecoq by Emile Gabriou (1869) [2/27/19]

5. Classic Comedy: The Ascent of Rum Doodle by W. E. Bowman (1956) [1/2/19]

6. Classic Tragedy: Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh (1930)

7. Very Long Classic (500+ pages): Bleak House by Charles Dickens OR Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

8. Classic Novella: The Haunted House by Charles Dickens (1848) [1/16/19]

9. Classic from the Americas: The Bahamas Murder Case by Leslie Ford (1952)

10. Classic from Africa/Asia/Oceania (includes Australia): The Barakee Mystery by Arthur W. Upfield (1929) [Australia] (6/1/19)

11. Classic From a Place You've Lived: A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton-Porter (1909) [4/22/19]

12. Classic Play: The Man Born to Be King by Dorothy L. Sayers (1943) [3/31/19]

Great list -- I see a lot of classic mysteries included so I look forward to reading those posts -- and I did not know that Dorothy Sayers wrote plays. And I love Wodehouse -- Code of the Woosters is wonderful but I've never read Uncle Fred. Thanks for signing up for the challenge!

Nice list! I enjoyed Bleak House for the first time a few years ago. I need to read it again some time. You've given me an idea for the play - I am not too familiar with classic plays. I am starting to think about what I will read, but I'll do most of that after Christmas.

Nice choices...I haven't read most of these. I'll be watching for your reviews.
