Attention All Challengers! here on the Block has been, shall we say, challenging since I got back from vacation. I cam back to work to no computer (not hooked up after our office move) and my laptop at home has gone on strike. It looks like the Check-in Posts for the Just the Facts & Mount TBR challenges will wind up happening at the end of July instead of the regularly scheduled mid-point. But they are coming. Stay tuned!

Vintage Mystery Scavenger Hunt 2017: My Sign-Up

I'm a little behind on signing up for my 2017 reading challenges. Obviously, the Vintage Mystery Reading Challenge is the one that is nearest and dearest to my heart. It's the first reading challenge I sponsored and if I had to choose only one genre to read for the rest of my life, it would definitely be mysteries. I've decided to run another year's worth of mystery hunting with a second round of the Vintage Mystery Cover Scavenger Hunt with slightly different score cards.

Here is a short version of the rules. For the full scoop click on the link above.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to find as many objects on the scavenger hunt list as possible. As has been the case for Vintage Bingo you may play along in either the Golden (Pre-1960) or Silver (1960-1989, inclusive) Mystery Eras (or, for the more adventurous, both). See check lists below.

* All books must be from the mystery category (crime fiction, detective fiction, espionage, etc.). The mystery/crime must be the primary feature of the book--ghost stories, paranormal, romance, humor, etc are all welcome as ingredients, but must not be the primary category under which these books would be labeled at the library or bookstore.

*Minimum number of items to complete the challenge and to be eligible for the participation prize drawing at the end of the year is six from a single Vintage Mystery Era.  If you choose to do both eras, you must use separate checklists. You may not, for example, find three golden age items and three silver age items to claim the minimum six.
*Challenge runs from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

My Commitment: Once again I will be aiming for at least 12 books in each era. But I will ultimately be aiming to find as many items as possible.
