Teaser Tuesdays

MizB of Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesdays. Anyone can play along. Just do the following:

*Grab your current read.*Open to a random page.
*Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! You don't want to ruin the book for others.
*Share the title and author too, so other TT participants can add it to their TBR lists if they like your teaser.

Here's mine from Murder at the MLA by D. J. H. Jones (p. 30):

This, he thought, was sort of like the noise of constantly moving flapping birds (the image of his second cousin's four-story chicken house came to mind)--these people whose dialect was as specific (and, he suspected, as much power) as is the language of all poultry.

This is a unique way to describe dialects, like chickens sounding off. Makes me smile.
