Book Beginnings on Friday is a bookish meme sponsored by Katy at A Few More Pages. Here's what you do: Share the first line (or two) of the book you are currently reading on your blog or in the comments section. Include the title and author so we know what you're reading. Then, if you are so moved, let us know what your first impressions were based on that first line and if you did or did not like that sentence. Link up each week at Katy's place.
Here's mine from The Secret of Lost Things by Sheridan Hay:
I was born before this story starts, before I dreamed of such a place as the Arcade, before I imagined men like Walter Geist existed outside fables, outside fairy tales.

Thanks for participating, I added you to the Linky!
Very interesting beginning. I'll have to look this one up.
Thanks for participating in Book Beginnings!
I will have to write this title down. Would luv to know more about Walter Geist.
Intriguing start... I hope you enjoy the book!
I'm astonished to see how good the first lines of books are. I'd never noticed this until I participated in this meme.
Now that's the kind of challenge I like!
The Road to Here
Hi Bev,
I love your page 56 lines, but at first I wasn't too sure about your first lines.
I am not sure that they would have made me want to carry on reading, as I assumed that you were reading fantasy book, which I am not partial too.
Good job I looked up the synopsis, isn't it? Not what I had expected, but I am already hooked and have added this one to my reading list.
Thanks for sharing such a great book.
Yvonne
Very intriguing beginning and excerpt. Thanks for sharing, Bev, and for visiting my blog.
I like the beginning but not 56 line... probably just me. I feel like it doesn't tell enough to make me interested.
