Booking Through Thursday (On Friday)

Do you read book reviews? Whose do you trust? Do they affect your reading habits? Your buying habits?

I do read book blogger reviews. I have my favorite bloggers and I trust them to give me good recommendations. I also read the reviews on Goodreads and Visual Bookshelf but those are more for fun. And I tend to read those after I've read a book and am posting my own review--more out of curiosity to see if others agreed with my opinion.

I don't read "official" or "professional" reviews. I find that I get better recommendations from fellow bloggers whose tastes and opinions I know and trust or from friends. Also, most of the books reviewed by "professionals" are current books and I'm not much for reading current books. Books that have been published 2000+ make up less than 30% of my average reading each month.

  1. Glad to read things are going well for you. I do read professional reviews and blogger reviews. I am surprised that less than 30% of your average reading per month consists of recently published books (2000+). I know you read a fair number of vintage mysteries. Sometimes those offer a better read than popular fiction.

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.

If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
