Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. It is not a platform for advertising. Book Beginnings
Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do or do not like the sentence.
I currently have two reads going. I have signed up for the Dueling Monsters Read-a-Long where we have Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde mixing it up with Dorian Gray. Here are my latest beginnings:
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde:
The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the pink-flowering thorn.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson:
Mr. Utterson the lawyer was a man of a rugged countenance, that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, long, dust, dreary, and yet somehow loveable.

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.
If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
What an interesting idea to mix up the monsters. Both are good and creepy stories.
