Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.

Here are my thoughts (and my review) of Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers
ReplyDeleteThis book was one of the few where I like the movie better than the book. It wasn't a bad story line, but I just didn't like Mary Poppins in this book. I thought she was very vain and kind of mean. I much prefer Julie Andrews version of Mary Poppins. Overall though, not a bad story. I'll probably finish series just to see what happens, but in no great hurry.

Thoughts and review of Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle.
ReplyDeleteI liked this book much better than The Haunting of Hill House. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because it still left a lot of unanswered questions, but overall, I'm satisfied with the way it ended. :)

I definitely agree with you on Mary Poppins. The books are darker than the movie and Julie Andrews is definitely the quintessential Mary.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm on the other side of the fence with the Shirley Jackson books. Love The Haunting of Hill House, but We Have Always Lived in the Castle is probably my least favorite of everything I've read by her.
