Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. It is not a platform for advertising. Please do NOT contact me to ask that I promote your NON-book websites or products. Thank you.

End-of-Year Blogging: It's All Falling Apart....
I don't know how your end-of-year is going, but things here at the Block are definitely not going as planned. Especially when it comes to reading and reviewing. [And maintaining my challenges...just put up the December review links. Sorry, I'm a bit late.] Holiday planning and gift buying and end-of-year job stuff are all getting in the way more than usual. Not to mention pulling my hair out over the latest on the political front.
I've come to the realization that Mount Olympus is just not gonna have a Bev flag on top of it. There's no way on Mars that I'm going to read another thirty books before the New Year rolls around. Unless I'm going to call in sick for the rest of the month and put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my bedroom door...and then only if I don't write any more reviews. I'm currently three reviews behind as it is.
But I really do blame it all on #45 and the Republicans. If I weren't so active writing, calling, and protesting every darn thing they're doing to this country right now, maybe I'd remember I have books to read and reviews to write.

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.
If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
My challenges fell by the wayside this year, too. MountTBR is one of two challenges I completed. https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/8372971-tina?shelf=mounttbr2017
ReplyDeleteYay, Tina, for finishing Mount TBR! If only I had stuck with Mount Everest as I had climbed in the past.
ReplyDeleteAt least you've got the energy--and the heart--to try to keep them honest. Good on you!
ReplyDeleteDespair is all too easy an option these days.

Christmas keeps people busy. There's not much time for reading in my house either, as much as I want several holiday reads. Well, I'll still get a few in. :)
ReplyDeleteRight there with you, Bev! Good thing the blogging community so forgiving.
ReplyDeleteI'm already thinking about next year's challenges, even though I haven't done so great on this year's . . . . Good thoughts to you and for a better year in 2018.
I hear ya. The current "Hard Times" as I call them have wreaked havoc on my reading and blogging. I have striven to get my challenges done early precisely because it has gotten harder for me to muster up as year goes by. Still have two challenges to finish, and I hope I can make it. We will see. I do know when I do my end of year reading report, I will have likely read less. However, it was not all terrible. I have been escaping by binge watching old TV shows on DVD (thank you public library). Almost done binging through "Inspector Morse" this month. And the other thing helping my sanity a bit is I took up learning Tarot and oracle cards a bit back. It's why you may have seen a Tarot book or two on my links
ReplyDeleteI will probably be more selective, and trim on how many reading challenges I do next year because I just do not see 2018 being any better (personally, I think it will be worse). Still hoping to do Mount TBR (deity of choice knows I have plenty on that mountain to read).
Anyways, I hope you have a good holiday season, and keep on reading for 2018. Don't forget the self-care.
Best, and keep on blogging.
Thank you, Angel! I am trying to take care of myself (which also accounts for less reading). You take care as well!
