Saturday Snapshot: Brownies!

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books. All you have to do is "post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mr. Linky on [her] blog. Photos can be old or new, and be of anything as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give is up to you." All she asks is that you don't just post random photos that you find online. (Click pictures for close-up).
Here's a blast from my past.  I've posted pictures before of my son as a Boy Scout.  Here is a picture of me and my Brownie Troop back in the late 70s.  I'm the shaggy-haired one second from the right in the back row.  And that's my mom as Scout Leader.

  1. Awe cute! Your photo brings me back to the days when I was Brownie in the 70's. The wonder days indeed.

  2. I do love those blasts from the past...I've done my share of scanning photos from the 70s, too.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  3. Nice picture. Our girls wore dark brown uniforms as Brownies and royal blue for Girl Guides. I could look up one of those pics and scan it for another week.

  4. That is awesome! I love how some of those pants almost look like bell bottoms. :)

  5. Gosh, when I was a Brownie, a very long time ago indeed, we wore dark brown dresses and yellow ties, which were triangular and had to be folded and tied, with a proper reef knot - not a granny as I usually did! My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/CQuKI

  6. Brownies grow up to be Girl Scouts and future community leaders. It's true.
    Nice memories.

  7. So cute! I've also got a picture like that around here somewhere. I've been rather nostalgic for the 70s lately too.

  8. What a lovely piece of family history.

Isn't it funny how we now use hipstamatic on our smart phones to create the same yellow/brown vintage tinge to our modern photos!!

  9. That is so cute. My daughter is a Brownie, but just has this term before she has to leave. I must get a photo of her with her friends.

  14. My sister was a brownie in the '70s and the guides after that. You don't seem to see much of them these days, although I did buy a box of minty girl guide cookies today from a young guide in the grocery store. Thanks for visiting my snapshot earlier.

  16. Love it! We grew up around the same time and my brownie uniform was very similar. In fact, I looked an awful lot like the second girl from the left in the front row!

  18. Oh, I remember those days! I did the brownie/girl scout thing too. I'm not sure if any photos of my brownie days are still around but I remember the uniform looked similar to yours.

  19. Too cute! I was in brownies/Girl Guides in Canada - uniforms looked different, of course, but they're still recognizable.
