Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books. All
you have to do is "post a photo that you (or a
friend or family member) have taken and then leave a
direct link to your post in the Mr. Linky on [her]
blog. Photos can be old or new, and be of anything as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give is up to you." All she asks is that you don't just post random photos that you find online. (Click pictures for close-up).

Brain stationed outside the public library. |

Brain outside Trinity Episcopal Church . |
From late-April to
mid-October 2012, 22 large fiberglass brains have taken over the city of
Bloomington and Indiana University's campus. The installations are part
of the Brains Extravaganza,
a project that brings city institutions together to promote "brain
awareness, education, injury prevention, recovery, and the importance of
movement on mental and physical health." This brain is stationed outside the public library.
My question when I first found out about this was: "But if there really
is a zombie apocalypse...doesn't this kind of ensure that they'll hit
Bloomington first?" Lol.

How weird and colorful! And educational, I suppose...
ReplyDeleteZombies, come get your brains. Lots of brains. First come, first served! Ha! That's funny. Great idea, though.
ReplyDeleteCheryl...yes, very weird--although we've kind of gotten used to them now. I'll probably miss them when they're gone.
ReplyDeleteEugenia: Yep...we've got all the brains here, ready for the taking.
Oh my... that is quite unique! And I suppose it does promote an awareness of 'brains'. We got 'Cows on Parade' a while back in Chicago... not sure what that was supposed to promote but they were fun to have around for the summer.
ReplyDeleteStatues like that are always fun - they have Hokie birds all over Blacksburg.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, and a tad bit creepy! I've seen fish, cows, and chickens as city sculpture like this, but never brains!
ReplyDeleteGosh, what an unusual idea. Do people like it? Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteLove the BRAIN! I want that in my yard :)
ReplyDeleteThat's thinking outside the box!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I love the colors and the angles. Great pic, and thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteInteresting color choices...very noticeable, though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
I love when they have those themed statues throughout cities. We had fiberglass cows in NY and each was interestingly decorated. It was interesting to see where they would pop up.
ReplyDeleteI always feel that public art reflects the psyche of a city. Well, I'm glad to see all these colorful brains in yours. For our city, it's cows.
ReplyDeleteMy mum used to feed us lamb's brains when we were little to make us smarter! Trouble is the thought of eating a little baby lamb's brains made me feel ill. This is a much more palatable to way to get your brains!!
ReplyDeleteI feel much safer here in Columbus, home of Ohio State University, where the zombies will come only in search of football, not brains... Kind of sad though. Nice brains. Here's Mine
ReplyDeletePaulita: I wish zombies were more into football (not that I want them coming after you)--but we would have absolutely nothing to fear from zombies looking for football at Indiana University. We don't seem to do that here.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cool! I wonder who thought of putting that there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic project. It looks colourful and cool.
ReplyDeleteA very colorful brain! Cool!
ReplyDeleteThat sculpture is so awesome! I love all the colors in it. And yeah, I think if there is a zombie apocalypse your town is in some trouble, haha.
