Here's mine from Sherlock Holmes & the Treasure Train by Frank Thomas:
[Don't you just want to know why?]
Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. It is not a platform for advertising. Please do NOT contact me to ask that I promote your NON-book websites or products. Thank you.
Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.
If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
I haven't read any Sherlock Holmes, but I am definitely curious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
I love Sherlock Holmes stories but have not read this one. I love the start. Thanks for Visiting.
ReplyDeleteI saw Sherlock somewhere else today too and commented about how the hubby like Sherlock unless he comes in the form of Robert Downey JR, then I like him too... lol
ReplyDelete@Freda: I think that was on my Theme Thursday post. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have read a couple of Sherlock stories, but not this one. Sounds good.
ReplyDeleteHi Bev,
ReplyDeleteI have read all of the original Holmes stories by Conan Doyle, however I haven't so far been tempted by any of the spin-off stories.
If I stay true to my policy that 'classics' shouldn't be manipulated for renewed gain by more modern authors, then I shall definitely be giving this one a miss, I'm afraid ..... but your teaser and 56 lines, do sound so good!!
I hope that you are enjoying the book and I shall await your review and final verdict.
Have a great weekend,
Yvonne
I love Holmes, wish Conan Doyle had written more. Looking forward to your review. If it lives up to the promise, I would love to read it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good beginning. Does Frank Thomas write a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories? I've never heard of him.
ReplyDeleteI never read Sherlock Holmes, but I bet I'd really enjoy the stories.
ReplyDeleteYes, I want to know why. :)

Yvonne (fictionbooks): Generally speaking I'm not a fan of other authors making good on other's work. But there have been some nicely done Holmes pastiches over the years. This--I'm afraid isn't going to go down as one of them (unless something changes my mind in the last 1/3 of the book).
ReplyDeleteAmber: Thomas wrote about 7-9 of these. I don't know if the others are any better than this one (and don't plan to find out). I'm going to finish it (just to see what really happened), but my advice is to give it a miss.
Yvonne (Socrates Book Reviews): Holmes is great! You should definitely read the originals...and there are some good ones out there that aren't by Doyle.
