Saturday Snapshot: Tiger Lilies!

Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books. All you have to do is "post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken and then leave a direct link to your post in the Mr. Linky on [her] blog. Photos can be old or new, and be of anything as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give is up to you." All she asks is that you don't just post random photos that you find online. (Click pictures for close-up).

These beauties are tiger lilies that my mom gave me to plant in my garden about 10 years ago. This picture is from June 2009--unfortunately, due to the drought, there were no blooms this year.

  2. So pretty! Too bad about this year, though. It was very dry around these parts as well.

  4. My lilies grew extremely tall this year and then dried up before the beautiful flowers had a chance. I'm jealous of yours.

  5. They're gorgeous - it's sad they didn't bloom this year.

  6. Such beautiful flowers! I bet they come back strong next year. We had a lot that didn't bloom well. I only noticed yesterday that our apple trees hardly have any fruit this year! Last year they were plentiful so I suppose we were due for a slow year.

  8. They are lovely. You had the opposite problem to me - my lilies did flower, and were quite colourful, but there was so much rain they didn't grow very tall, and there were so many slugs that there were hardly any leaves! My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/g4s6H

  9. Beautiful! The drought had a big impact on our garden too. I hope next summer is milder and moister!

  12. Nice. We had some of these in our backyard earlier in the year, but now they're gone and we are seeing the start of fall colours. Thanks for visiting my post earlier.

  13. I hope you're northern summer drought isn't a sign of what we can expect for our southern hemisphere summer! We've had no spring rain yet - just lots of wind :-(

  15. What a shame you had no flowers this year. Still you have a lovely photo to look back on.

  16. Ours bloomed this year, but for a very short time. When my husband and I were married in June 1990, we stood in front of creek lined with blooming tiger lilies. I guess global warming has changed the blooming time. Here's Mine

  17. The weather did accelerate blooming here pre-May, that is. So I wound up with Lilies of the Valley way early. But then the heat came on in mid-May and my poor Tiger Lilies just couldn't take it.

  20. When I first saw that photo I was wondering how you got such lovely blooms. My lilies were a disaster this year. Then I saw the date... ahhh.

  21. I am sorry you did not get them to bloom this year, but they look beautiful in the picture! At least you can look back at this and remember how great they look.
