Here's mine from DeKok and Murder on the Menu by A C Baantjer:
Well...we're starting right off in the police station. Wonder if the inspector will keep smiling?
Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. It is not a platform for advertising. Please do NOT contact me to ask that I promote your NON-book websites or products. Thank you.
Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.
If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
Good beginning! I'm wondering what the young man is up to.

ReplyDeleteHere's MY FRIDAY MEMES POST
Murder on the Menu...? Does the murder take place at a restaurant, I wonder?
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Beginning.
The inspector sounds like a great character. This is my first time to see him. Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteGreat title and good beginning. I have a feeling that smile will vanish soon.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a little bit of phoney charm? Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my Friday 56 earlier today.
Visits here always result in more book on my TBR shelf. I'm pinning this beginning to Pinterest so I remember to find the book -- or books, if it is a series.
ReplyDeleteRayme Waters – the author of my Book Beginnings book – guest posted on Rose City Reader today, explaining how the heroines of 19th Century literature inspired her debut novel, The Angels' Share.
It will give you a much different idea about the book than the opening sentence.
Thanks for participating in Book Beginnings!
Donkersloot? What an unusual name! I would keep reading just because the name is interesting ... and the some!
