It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a bookish meme hosted by Book Journey. It's where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It's a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. So hop on over via the link above and join in...and leave a comment here so I can check out what you are reading
Books Read Last Week (click on titles for review):
The Case of the Deceiving Don by Carl Brookins
Unnatural Death by Dorothy L Sayers
The Mystery of the Third Lucretia by Susan Runholt
Currently Reading:
Still plugging away on (less than 100 pages to go!)--
Robert Kennedy in His Own Words: The Unpublished Recollections of the Kennedy Years by Edwin O. Guthman & Jeffrey Shulman (eds): In these never-before-published transcripts of lively, extensive interviews originally recorded in the mid-1960s for the John F. Kennedy Library, Robert Kennedy explains his own role in his brother's administration, from the Bay of Pigs to the civil rights campaign to the early years of American involvement in Vietnam. This is a crucial document for understanding a turbulent and dramatic period of American history.
And also reading (as a break from RFK info-overload)--
Bone Harvest by Mary Logue: When a quantity of dangerous pesticides is stolen from the local co-op, Deputy Sheriff Claire Watkins is called in to investigate. The theif has left one bizarre clue: the finger bone of a child long dead. The pesticides soon reappear with devastating effect--in flowerbeds, in animal feed, and in a fatal concoction at a Fourth of July picnic. Each time a tiny human bone is left at the scene. With the help of Harold Peabody, the quirky, aging editor of the Durand Daily, Claire unravels the secrets of the past, leading her to a pair of young lovers, a man enraged over his mother's death, an obsessive recluse, and the deputy who first discovered the corpses of the Schuler family (the family whose deaths long ago seem to have triggered this outburst). Claire desperately races against time to find the madman before he uses the lethal pesticide again. But he won't be stopped. Not until he gets what he wants.
Books that spark my interest:
Seven Gothic Tales by Isak Dinesen
The Affair of the 39 Cufflinks by James Anderson
The White Woman on the Green Bicycle by Monique Roffey
Heartless by Gail Carriger
The Prop by Pete Hautman
I'm a big fan of the Kennedys and still have a few on my stacks.
