Library Loot: Feb 9-15

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire (The Captive Reader) and Marg (The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader) that encourages bloggers to share the books they've checked out of the library. If you'd like to participate, just write up your post, feel free to steal button, and link up using the Mr. Linky on Marg's site this week. And, of course, check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

Here's my haul so far this week:

Something New by P. G. Wodehouse. One of Wodehouse's earliest works, predating the Jeeves stories. In it he shows off his satirical mastery, with its droll observations on the foibles of both aristocrats and commoners, and makes this volume a treat for those new to his rare brand of whimsy, as well as his many devotees. The first of the Blandings Castle stories.

Leftover Loot (see previous Loot post for descriptions):

Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald: An American Woman's Life by Linda Wagner-Martin
Zubin Mehta: The Score of My Life by Zubin Mehta
The Girl in the Green Raincoat by Laura Lippmann

Loot from the Library's used/donated/discarded book store:

Death by Dickens by Anne Perry (ed). A collection of short stories which are inspired by the work of Charles Dickens. Includes stories by Peter Tremayne, Carole Nelson Douglas, Brendan DuBois, Bill Crider, and Anne Perry as well as others.

13 Steps Down by Ruth Rendell. A luridly fascinating study of obsession that spans the chasm from glittering celebrity to gruesome violence.

Full House: A Nero Wolfe Omnibus by Rex Stout. Includes The League of Frightened Men; And Be a Villain; The Gun with Wings; Bullet for One; and Disguise for Murder.

And, finally, from the library of my good friend, Richard:

Lord of Misrule by Jaimy Gordon. About the rock-bottom end of the sport of kings. Horesman Tommy Hansel has a scheme to rescue his failing stable. Will his horse-racing gamble pay off?

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.

If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
