Library Loot: December 15-21

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire (The Captive Reader) and Marg (The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader) that encourages bloggers to share the books they've checked out of the library. If you'd like to participate just write up your post, feel free to steal the button, and link up using the Mr. Linky on Marg's site this week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

I didn't make much of a haul this week. The only book I picked up was Mrs. Hudson and the Malabar Rose by Martin Davies--another in a long line of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. I've read the first Mrs. Hudson story (Mrs. Hudson and the Spirits' Curse) and it was pretty enjoyable so I thought I'd grab this one up off the New Arrivals shelf.

Synopsis: Londoners are braving a snowy December day to see the unveiling of the Malabar Rose, a rare and remarkable ruby, and the British debut of the Great Salmanazar. A magician and illusionist extraordinairem, Salmanazar is the talk of Europe--especially since his performances abroad coincide with daring thefts of famous jewelry. When a special representative of the Home Secretary begs Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to safeguard the Malabar Rose, Mrs. Hudson suspects that the Great Salamazar is about to put something up his sleeve. Then the ruby vanishes in a highly baffling manner. Larceny is clearly afoot, and the formidable Mrs. Hudson must give a lesson in criminal deduction to that most logical of minds, the great Sherlock Holmes.

I did also pick up two used books at the Library Bookstore (where they sell discards and donated used books):

An Author Bites the Dust by Arthur W. Upfield
Theoretically Dead by Tinker Marks

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.

If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
