Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. It is not a platform for advertising. Please do NOT contact me to ask that I promote your NON-book websites or products. Thank you.

Hippity Hop to the Used Book Shop
...Or anywhere that has books. We're looking at Friday, so that means that it's time for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-For-Books. It's a time to talk about blogging topics and to venture out on the internet and visit other blogs. Visit the link to join in.
This week's question: When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?
Most of the time I wait until I've finished the book. I let my thoughts simmer a while and thenput them together in what I hope is a coherent fashion. One in a while a brilliant (at least to me) thought occurs while I'm reading and I may jot that down to include in the final review. But that's fairly rare.
How about you? How do you do your reviews?

Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.
If your name does not appear automatically, please tell me your name in the comment. Otherwise you will just show up as "Unknown." Thanks!
Happy Hop! I wait until the end to write the review but take notes along the way. It's really helped make my reviews more meaningful.
ReplyDeleteHOP by and visit
I'm pretty much just like you!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you kind of have to write those brilliant ideas down when they strike, otherwise, away they flit!!

ReplyDeleteHere is my post! I am a seriously eclectic reader! I follow blogs via google reader!
already a follower... just hopping by.
ReplyDeleteI think you have great coherent reviews. I also do the same thing, in that fleeting moment when a good description and/or word that may come to mind, will be jotted down so as not to forget for when the review needs to be written.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I like to do the review right after I finish the book while my thoughts are fresh.

ReplyDeleteI am a new follower from the hop. I write my review after I've read the book. But I do keep a pen nearby for those moments where something WOW hits me while I'm reading. Come and visit me at

Hey Bev. I'm stopping by for the hop. Thanks for saying hi. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's got to be the cutest title for a Hop post ever. I love it!
Thanks, Emily. I was kind of fond of that...Don't know if you've ever heard the rhyme "Hippity hop to the candy shop, to by a stick of candy...." My mom used to say that to me all the time. That's what I had in mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for dropping my my page Bev! I am really loving your site. The chocolate background sets a rich tone for the page, like you are about to read something decadent. I will definitely be back for more.
