I love Dororthy L Sayers. I can't say it any better than that. I could read her Lord Peter Wimsey novels any time and I've already read them many times (more than I can count). I reach for Sayers when I need a pick-me-up, a soothing read, good writing, great quotes and references, a good dose of golden age mystery, any or all of the above. I also reach for Sayers when the Fall Into Reading Challenge calls for me to "Re-read a book you consider an old friend." My only quibble with the Wimsey books is that I have already read them all and I have no new stories to look forward to. Oh to be in the position to pick up a Sayers for the first time--that would be bliss.Mystery Lover...but overall a very eclectic reader. Will read everything from the classics to historical fiction. Biography to essays. Not into horror or much into YA. If you would like me to review a book, then please see my stated review policy BEFORE emailing me. Please Note: This is a book blog. Sorry folks, but I have been getting an incredible amount of spam. I have adjusted my settings and all messages will be moderated from now on. If that does not take care of the problem then I will have to go to the "Prove You're Not a Robot" thing--which I hate as much as you do.

Such a good review ! I do love a Wimsey novel myself, and its particularly good once he 's met Harriet!

Wimsey in love!! Got to read this too!!
ReplyDeleteThat quote is great! It sounds like such a fun book, and if that quote is any evidence, the writing sounds really good too. I'll have to put this on my To-Read list.
ReplyDeleteThose quotes have intrigued me Bev, I may just give the book a go :-)
ReplyDeleteNow under the reading lamp! - RM
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it, Rick!
ReplyDeleteOh my, reading in bed and laughing while the Mrs. is trying to sleep! Those fervent religious services, lockpicking class, and fake seaces! The transcript of the seance is too much!!
ReplyDeleteYes--I positively adore the lockpicking class. So much fun!
